Montracon’s origins are in Northern Ireland, being part of the Ballyvesey Holdings group of companies that also includes the familiar Montgomery Transport fleet and a host of franchised truck dealerships within its portfolio. This background gives it a unique perspective on what operators need. With its factory at Mallusk, near Belfast, complemented by two more in England, it’s very much geared up for the mainland. It also has a dedicated repair and refurbishment facility in York and a fixed and on-line parts supply network.
The Montracon product portfolio is extensive, and includes curtainsiders, box vans, reefers, skeletals and more recently steel and aluminium tippers. It also specialises in lower volume products such as low-loading machinery carriers, and is the sole UK distributor of the New Zealand-built Swinglift self-loading container handling system.
In its quest to lower customers’ fuel bills, Montracon offers an FST (fuel saving trailer) package on its reefers, box vans and curtainsiders. A host of aerodynamic aids, such as vortex generators, are claimed to produce fuel savings of up to 10%.
Montracon has been active in providing longer semi-trailers for the ongoing UK trials process.
